About the National IPM CAPs Working Group
The National Integrated Pest Management Conservation Activity Plans (IPM CAPs) Working Group formed in June 2009 to support successful, nationwide development of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) IPM CAP program. The project is funded by the North Central and Northeastern IPM Centers.
The working group is comprised of individuals from across the country, including representatives from NRCS, Extension, Universities, crop consultant groups, non-profit organizations and public agencies and more. The working group maintains three sub-committees focused on Extension Involvement, Financial Assistance and Training Curriculum.
Working Group Activities:
- Developing a training curriculum to provide hands-on, thorough training to Crop Consultants, current TSPs, Extension agents and other interested parties on the IPM CAPs certification process. Visit the TSP Training webpage for more information.
- Creating and sharing model IPM CAPs and templates, guidance documents and other resources for the NRCS, TSPs, Extension and others to use. Visit the Resources webpage for more information.
- Using information from the pilot year to influence cost-share rates in each state to ensure they are reasonable and foster a solid business relationship between growers, TSPs and the NRCS. Visit the Resources webpage for more information.
- Developing and disseminating outreach materials to raise awareness among growers, Crop Consultants and TSPs, Extension and others of the IPM CAPs program, its benefits, who can become involved and how to make IPM CAPs a success. Visit the Resources webpage for up-to-date outreach materials.
