Nerve Toxin (N)

These pesticides contain ingredients determined by U.S. EPA to be toxic to animal and human nervous systems.  These include ingredients that inhibit the action of cholinesterase, an important enzyme involved in nervous system operation.

The absence of this designation does not mean a pesticide is free of nerve toxins.  It may mean that its ingredients have not been evaluated or that insufficient data are available to make a determination.  Similarly, chemicals may have their classification changed when new data becomes available.
